MANDEVILLE — The Mandeville Skippers kept themselves in contention for the District 6-5A crown with a convincing 56-7 thumping of the Slidell Tigers Friday night, October 25, as the Skippers celebrated Homecoming.
The Skippers (6-2, 4-1) scored on its first series going six plays that ended on a 18-yard touchdown pass from Tulane commitment Glen Cuiellette to James Treuting.
Parker Pastorello added the first of his eight PAT’s to give the Skippers a 7-0 lead with 5:16 left in the quarter.
After that score the Skippers never looked back.
The Tigers (3-5, 1-4) were held to 163 yards on the night thanks to a very strong Skipper defense.
Cuiellette was in complete control throwing four touchdowns in the first half and ran for one as the Skippers jumped out to a 35-0 halftime lead.
Cuiellette scored on a one-yard run and Koree Hollins ran back an interception for 46 yards and a touchdown to up the lead to 21-0.
Cuiellette made it 28-0 when he hit Parker Orgeron with a nine-yard pass.
Orgeron, scored his second touchdown of the half on a 59-yard catch and run to increase the lead to 35-0 with 1:16 remaining in the first half.
Cuiellette connected on 8-of-11 first-half passes for 145 yards and three touchdowns.
He also ran for 75 yards on seven carries and a touchdown as the Skippers outgained the Tigers 225-72.
Nick Peters hauled in a 63-yard touchdown pass from Cuiellette on the second play of the second half for a 42-0 lead.
Zac Barrient then caught Cuiellette’s fifth touchdown pass from 13 yards out to make the score 49-0 with 1:55 to go in the third quarter.
Cuiellette went 10-of-13 pass attempts for 221 yards and five touchdowns and ran for 75 yards and another touchdown.
Treuting had 56 yards rushing and a touchdown. He also caught three passes for 37 yards and another touchdown.
For Slidell, quarterback Ryan Rucker completed 5-of-10 passes for 38 yards and two interceptions.
Montel Williams had 78 yards rushing on 23 carries.
Stephen Garcia scored the only touchdown for the Tigers on a 28-yard pass from Rucker on the game’s last play.
Mandeville will host Northshore on Friday, November 1, while Slidell heads to Fontainebleau to take on the Bulldogs.
