Lynn Rito Hoffman, born April 21, 1961, passed away at her home in Slidell, La., on March 12, 2017, after an extended battle with cancer.
She is survived by her loving husband, Winston; her devoted and loving daughters, Samantha and Carlee; mother, Gerry Rito; three brothers, Alan, Mark (Tammy), and Daryl (Kim), step-children, Daniel (Diana), Paul, Nicol Hoffman and Lauren Cerny (Rick); step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchild, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded on her journey by her father, Frank Rito.
Born in Lake Charles, living in Lafayette, Lacombe and Slidell, and a graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University, she was definitely a Louisiana native.
Parishioner of St. John of the Cross, St. Margaret Mary, where she was in the first group to have completed the whole eight years of the new elementary school, and Our Lady of Lourdes, where her girls graduated their elementary years.
She was enthusiastically active in many dance and school programs, volunteering for numerous projects and writing the monthly school newspaper for OLL and vice-president of PTSA. At Christmastime, she worked with Toys for Tots volunteers. She had begun organizing a “Come Lord Jesus” Bible group before illness intervened.
Visitation was held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Mass followed on March 20 at St. John of the Cross church, 61030 Brier Lake Dr., Lacombe, La.

Beatrice Louise Simmons Sollberger Penton went to be with her Lord on March 15, 2017.
A true Southern lady, she refused to admit to her age in life and we won’t tell now. She was born on May 14 long ago to the late Alfred C. Simmons and Mildred Roberts Simmons in Lisbon, Louisiana. Beatrice was twice widowed by her husbands, Harry W. Penton (2006) and John Henry Sollberger (1963).
She was a long-time member of First Presbyterian Church, Slidell Women’s Civic Club, GOSH – Guardians of Slidell History and an active volunteer for the Community Christian Concern. She enjoyed reigning as the 50th Queen Samaritan of the Slidell Women’s Civic Club’s Mardi Gras ball in 1999. Beatrice was an avid bridge player, reader, and world traveler.
Beatrice is survived by her son, Alexander Sollberger and wife, Marilyn of Crowley, Louisiana; son, Robert Sollberger of Slidell; daughter, Tracy Sollberger Krieger and husband Robert of Abita Springs; daughter, Sheree Sollberger Bouchillon and husband Rusty of Slidell; daughter, Vela Sollberger Tomba and husband Neil of Dallas, Texas; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Beatrice was preceded in death by her son, John Thomas Sollberger (1997).
A celebration of life memorial service was held on Saturday, March 18 at Palmetto’s on the Bayou.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Beatrice’s memory to the Slidell Women’s Civic Club Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 74, Slidell, Louisiana 70459.

Vallerie Boe Paternostro, of Slidell, passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2017.
She was 84 years old.
She was the beloved wife of the late Gaetano D. Paternostro, Sr.; mother of Gaetano D. Paternostro, Jr. (Karen); Terry L. Paternostro (Bridget); Dominick Paternostro (Stephanie) and the late, Randy L. Paternostro (Leslie); and daughter of the late Bertrand Peter Boe and Mattie Valerie Gonsonlin Boe.
She also had 11 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; three brothers; two sisters; numerous nieces and nephews and many other relatives.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd. West (in Forest Lawn Cemetery), Slidell, on Thursday, March 23 at 1 p.m.
Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Slidell.
Visitation at Honaker Funeral Home on Thursday, March 23 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Lori Pichon Stanley, of Slidell, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at her home in Slidell.
She was 51 years old.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis “Dooley” and Dorothy Pichon; and a brother, Larry Pichon.
Lori is survived by her husband, Bill Stanley; two children, Stephanie Spring Fineout (Joshua), and Richard “Aaron” Spring; a sister, Lisa Pichon; two grandchildren, Bailey Beals, and Madeline Fineout; three nephews, Todd Pichon, Chad Pichon, and Sean Spiehler; and one great nephew, Gavin Pichon.
Lori was born and raised in Slidell. She attended Boyet Jr. High and graduated from Slidell High in 1983. Lori attended the Slidell Insititute where she was then certified as a Medical Assistant in 1990.
Memorial services will be held at Pinewood Country Club, Slidell, on Saturday, March 25 from 4 until 7 p.m.

Steve Rayburn, a longtime resident of Titusville, Florida, and a resident of Slidell for the past three months, passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2017, in Slidell, Louisiana.
He was 59 years old.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Ed Rayburn and Myra Thomas; and a nephew, Dylan.
He is survived by three sisters, Roxanne Anderson (David), Tammy Burnett (Mark), Vonnie Rester (Darryle); one nephew, Mike Anderson; four nieces, Karen Miller, Brittany Cook, Christy Stallins, Holli Burnett; numerous great nieces and nephews, and other relatives.
Memorial services were held on March 20 at Honaker Funeral Home in Slidell.
Burial will be in Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery.

Mary Schmalz, of New Orleans, LA, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2017.
She was 74 years old.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend visitation at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd. West (in Forest Lawn Cemetery), Slidell, on Saturday, March 25 from 9 until 11 a.m. with graveside service and burial at 12:30 p.m. in the Woodland Cemetery, Kentwood, La.
