CARY S. ELESER

Cary S. Eleser, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at the age of 97, after suffering a stroke.
He was born in Rosaryville, La to Louis P. Eleser and Susie Eleser. In February of 1945 he married Dolores East and raised 9 children. He was proud to be a WWII veteran having served in the United States Navy.
In his younger years, he was an avid bottle and coin collector. He loved the outdoors, traveling, and dancing. As he got older he loved to cruise, taking many over the years. He was known for being a devoted family man and always the life of the party.
Cary was preceded in death by his wife Dolores Eleser; 2 sons, Cary Eleser and Stephen Eleser; and his granddaughter Caryn Eleser Pierson.
He is survived by his children Nancy Brandt (Michael), Gregory Eleser, Judy Eleser, Carol Darbonne (Isaac), Lynn Grice (Ronald), Dennis Eleser, and Patricia Robbins (Stephen); nine grandchildren,12 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or at www.stjude.org
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, 61030 Brier Lake Dr, Lacombe, LA on Friday, January 28, 2022 at 11 a.m.
Interment with Military Honors will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation at the church on Friday after 9 a.m. until funeral time.

DOROTHY LOUISE HARRISON

Dorothy Louise Harrison, the beloved daughter of the late Louise Cousin and Ernest Torregano was born on August 11, 1927, the second child of 12 children.
Dorothy was a life-long member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and attended St. Tammany Training School.
On April 22, 1950, she married James Leroy Harrison and was a devoted wife for 43 years until his death in 1993. To this union four children were born: Karen, Connie, Vanessa and Troy.
Dorothy worked as a housekeeper for many years until her retirement in 1993. She was one of the founding members of the Silhouettes Social and Civic Club in 1956 and was an active member until it was disbanded in 2010.
On Saturday evening, January 15, 2022, God sent an angel to bring Dorothy home to a peaceful rest at the age of 94. She is survived by her children, Karen Bartholomew, Connie Pierce (James), Vanessa Fowler (Toney) and Troy Harrison; grandchildren, Danielle, Allen, Teddy (TJ), Dawane, Justin, Juan and Kaylen; great grandchildren, Kevin Jr., Mason, Dailon, Alania, Dailey, Jade, Logan, Nathan, A’Mya, Dominic, Allayah, Jada, Alaina and Allen Jr; two sisters, Sally Harrison and Marian Nixon; one brother, Allen Torregano (Ivory); five sisters-in-law, Ruby Torregano, Linda Torregano, Margie Miles (Billie), Jeraldine Ducksworth and Florel Harrison; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Louise and Ernest Torregano; husband James Leroy Harrison; grandson, David Cothran, Jr.; brothers, Ernest Torregano, Alton Torregano, Warren Torregano, Timsey Torregano, Calvin Torregano, Elson Torregano, Donald Torregano; and, sister, Martha Torregano.
Funeral services were held on Monday, January 24, 2022 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Slidell, Louisiana.

 

EVA MAE DECKWA

Eva Mae Deckwa, age 87, of Lacombe, LA, passed away on Saturday, January 15, 2022.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward W. Deckwa Sr.; her parents, Joseph Frank and Annie Moran Chabreck; her sister, Evelyn Deckwa; and her brother-in-law, Charles Deckwa.
Eva is survived by four childen, Pamela Chambers (Jake), Eddie Deckwa (Karen), Susan Carollo (Frank), and Steven Deckwa (Mandy); her niece, JoAnn Rucker (Glen); six grand children, Lisa Pate (Chad), Theresa Guillot (David), Cody Deckwa (Sarah), Ean Deckwa, Kyle Deckwa (Janessa), and Logan Laurent (Barzi). She is also survived by six great-grandchildren.
Eva was a native and lifelong resident of Lacombe. She was also a lifelong member of Lacombe Methodist Church. She worked as a stay at home mother as well as a local Librarian. Eva also dedicated 30 years of volunteer service with St. Tammany Parish Fire District #3 as a member of the group known as the “Fire Bells.” Some of her many passions included cooking, sewing, and gardening. Eva will be deeply missed and forever cherished in the hearts and memories of her family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Anita Hohmann Passaro, age 70, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2022.
Born in Germany, she moved to Slidell in the early 70s and worked as a longtime employee at Slidell Memorial Hospital.

Robert F. “Bob” Hieter, age 84, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Wednesday, January 19, 2022.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, he earned a B.S. in Psychology from Muhlenberg College in Pennsylvania, attending the school on a football scholarship.
He was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity and later worked for Republic Aviation as an industrial engineer. He also worked for Grumman Aerospace on the Apollo Lunar Module, and also for Michoud on the Space Shuttle program.

Rita Wynne, age 84, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Friday, January 14, 2022.
A native of Oldham, England, she moved to Merritt Island, FL, and then to Slidell in 1982.
She was a 27-year employee of Cross Gates Athletic Club.

Stanley N. Worchel, age 88, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Monday, January 17, 2022.
A native of Brooklyn, NY, he served in the U.S. Army and received the Army of Occupation Medal.
He was employed with NAVO as an Oceanographer.

Gerald “Jerry” James Clark, age 54, passed away on Tuesday, January 4, 2022.
A native of Kenner, he was a longtime member of Slidell who attended Slidell High and was self-employed at Clark’s Marine, where he excelled in computer technology.
