JEFFREY LYNN WILLIAMS

Jeffrey Lynn Williams, 72, of Sedalia died July 4, 2022. He had a wicked sense of humor and would appreciate us saying that he went out with a bang on the most patriotic day of the year.
He was born Sept. 8, 1949, in Sedalia, MO, the son of Frank and Louise “Babe” Clements Williams. He graduated from Smith Cotton High-school in 1967. On May 14, 1983, he married his beautiful girl, the love of his life, Carolyn McFatrich Lewis Williams, who survives of the home.
Jeff was a member of the New Bethel United Methodist Church where he served on many committees over the years, Pettis County Democrat Club, on the Board of the Senior Center, and a member of the Democrat Central Committee. He was an avid woodworker, knife collector and lifelong Chiefs fan. He retired from WireCo after 33 years. He enjoyed playing games with family and friends, never knew a stranger, was a wonderful father, and the most devoted husband.
Also surviving are three daughters, Shandi Lewis (Jeff Morris) of the home, Kami Lewis Poole (John Lautenschlager) of Parkville, Sarah Williams Cramer (Barry) of Lincoln; two sons, Troy Lewis of Sedalia, and Justin Williams (Kelly) of Blue Springs; 7 grandchildren, Cody Poole of Parkville, Jeremy Lewis (Amanda) of Sedalia, Brian Sokolowski of Gladstone, Samantha Williams (Matt Kocurek) of Blue Springs, John and Brody Cramer of Lincoln, and Legacy Struble of Warsaw; 3 great grandchildren, Aubrey Caserta, Annalise and Mason Lewis of Sedalia. JEWELL MAHER PERRY BARKER

Jewell Maher Perry Barker, or “Granny Dool,” as her grandchildren dubbed her, was born on October 23, 1924 in Meridian, Mississippi.
At age 97, she passed away on July 5 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She was predeceased by her husbands, Lt. Col. (ret.) John Benjamin Perry and Joseph Barker. She was also predeceased by her sister, Peggy Maher Horgan.
She is survived by her three children and their spouses: Candace Perry and Charles Thibodeau of Wellfleet, MA; John Perry and Dr. Ileana Tandron of Slidell, LA; and Andrew and Barbara Perry of Baton Rouge, LA along with grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and many extended family members.
During her 22 year marriage to Ben Perry, a highly decorated WWII and Korean War pilot and career officer in the US Air Force, she moved 28 times, fulfilling her teenage ambitions of traveling and seeing the world.
They retired in 1966 to his hometown of Marietta, Ohio where she remained for several years after his death in 1967.
She later moved back to her hometown of Meridian, Mississippi where she became a licensed real estate broker and married her second husband, Joe Barker, in 1982.
They retired to Sebring, Florida, where he died in 1988. She then moved to Slidell, Louisiana, to be near her son John, his wife Ileana, and their family. She lived there for 27 years and was active in Christ Episcopal Church, achieved Gold Life Master status in bridge, and traveled widely.
When living alone after turning 90 was no longer safe, she moved to Wellfleet, MA to live with her daughter Candace and her husband, Charles. In Wellfleet she was active in various bridge groups as well as the Congregational Church craft organization.
In 2017 she decided it was time to move back South into assisted living, so she moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana to be near her son Andrew and his wife, Barbara.
She leaves behind a legacy of service and activity: as a military wife, Cub Scout and Brownie leader, an American Red Cross “Gray Lady,” Hospice volunteer, AA sponsor, AARP officer, Republican Women’s Club member, and PTA officer.
She is fondly remembered, and was featured on a segment of the “Rachael Ray Show,” for her years of baking and sending cookies packed in popcorn to the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Her creativity was evident in her numerous paintings, her humorous storytelling, and her costume creations. Her love of family was generous and welcoming, and her spirit of giving and loving will live on.
Her ashes will be interred in Marietta, Ohio next to her first husband in a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers or donations, the family asks those who knew Jewell/Granny Dool to perform an act of service to others.
