Earnest Holland passed away on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, at his daughter’s home in Pearl River after a courageous battle with prostate cancer.
He was 75 years old.
Holland is the son of the late Reverand James Mattison “Matt” Holland and the late Hassie Myrtle Smalley.
He was also preceded in death by the mother of his children, Easter Lily Eaton; son, Harold Ray Holland; sister, Angie Nell Holland; brother-in-law, Bill Dearman; and brother-in-law, Rev. Tommy Buford.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Holland of Lumberton; son, James Holland “J.M.” of Purvis, Ms.; daughter, Lillian Blackwell of Pearl River; sister, Sybil Williams of Gulfport, Ms.; sister, Mary Ella Dearman of Brookhaven, Ms.; sister, Linda Cobb of Jackson, Ms.; sister, Libby Buford of Benndale, Ms.; brother, Rodney Holland of Terrell, Texas; brother, Reverend Jimmy Don Holland of Crowville, La.; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; seven step-children; 22 step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held on Jan. 25 at Sunny Hill Pentecostal Church of Purvis, with Reverend Jeff Jones and Reverend Billy Trusley.
Arrangements are entrusted with Williams Funeral Home of Pearl River.
Roberta Yvonne Harrison Neuman was born September 1, 1937.
She graduated with a BS in biology from University of the Pacific, and after less than a week as a bachelorette, she married Charles Neuman 56 ½ years ago.
She became a mother to a son and a daughter both adopted as infants. She was a full-time mom until they went to school, and then became active in the Woman’s Division of the United Methodist Church.
She is survived by husband, Charles Neuman; son, Kenneth Neuman; daughter, Kathleen Wyneken; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life was held at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Slidell, on Jan. 24.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to the American Cancer Society or another charity.

Olyn E. Matthews, of Slidell, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014.
She was 74 years old.
She was the wife of the late Ford Joseph Matthews Jr.; mother of Lawrence Michael Matthews, Lisa M. Stallings and husband, Mark, and the late Ford “Buddy” Joseph Matthews III and wife, Linda Lapeyrouse; and daughter of the late Lawrence G. and Alethea Faerber Englert.
She is also survived by six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren:.
She was a native of New Orleans.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd. West (in Forest Lawn Cemetery), Slidell, on Friday, Jan. 24 at 1 p.m.

Joseph Larry Magyar passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013.
He was 69 years old.
He was born to the late Joseph L. Magyar and the late Awana Roberts on Dec. 7, 1944, in Little Rock, Ark.
Joseph is survived by: his one son, Mitchell (wife Nina) Magyar, of Slidell La; mother of his son, Hatsue Sayumi Magyar. He is also survived by four grandsons: Kaleab Magyar, Breyden Magyar, Kai Magyar, and Brennen Magyar.
He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a Vietnam Veteran. He worked in the oil field industry most of his life.
Funeral services were held on Jan. 25 at Honaker Funeral Home in Slidell.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Joseph Larry Magyar Memorial fund at Whitney Bank.

John Paul McNally passed away on Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, at Slidell Memorial Hospital, of congestive heart failure.
He was 83 years old.
He had lived in Slidell since 1981 and served in the U.S. Army in the early 1950s at Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington, DC. He was a graduate of Penn State University, and he worked as a technical writer for the US Cotton Council, Beaunit Fibers, Hercules, Inc.; and Martin Marietta.
He performed with the Jubilairs group on the Ted Mack amateur hour in New York with opera choruses in Memphis, Tenn., and Washington, DC. He was also a longtime volunteer at Northshore and Ochsner Hospitals, earning the Volunteer of the Year award in 2007. John was an active member of St. Margaret Mary Church, serving as an usher for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, E. Joan McNally; children, Louise of Barcelona, Spain; David of Charlotte, Vermont; and Mark of Arlington, Va.; four grandchildren; and sister, Alice Conahan of Conyngham, Penn.
The family had a Catholic mass said in his name on Jan. 26. A family memorial service will be held at a later date.

Quintin Frank Carthen passed away on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014.
He was 53 years old.
He is survived by his wife, Rebekah Poret Carthen; and children, Quintin Frank Carthen Jr., Shriell Carthen, Leisha Lee Carthen, Samyrah Vinson, Quintin Lawrence Carthen, and Ammiel Carthen. He had five brothers and two sisters.
He is also survived by his father, Cecil Carthen; mother-in-law Eileen; father-in-law, Gerard Hobden; and six grandchildren.
Carthen was preceded in death by his mother, Nola Mae Brown Carthen.
Services were held on Jan. 27 at D.T. Williams Funeral Home, Pearl River.
Dorothy F. Reeves passed away on Monday, Jan. 20, 2014.
She was 92 years old.
She was survived by her son, Steven J. Reeves; and granddaughter, Calli Jayde Reeves.
Reeves is preceded in death by her parents, Royce and Josephine Faciane; brother, Royce Faciane Jr.; and sister, Elra Cunningham.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Wallace Reid Nordan passed away on Friday, Jan. 24, 2014.
He was 68 years old.
He was survived by his wife, Frances Mandill Nordan; daughter, Rose Frances Nordan Berry, mother Agnes Arrington Nordan; and siblings, Margaret Nordan Campbell, James Herman Nordan II, and Kenneth Ray Nordan.
Nordan was also survived by three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his children, Jesse Edward Nordan and Elizabeth Ann Hall; and father, Marvin Ray Nordan.
Funeral services were held on Jan. 28 at D.T. Williams Funeral Home, Pearl?River.
