MARY ANN KLOTZ HATFIELD

Mary Ann Klotz Hatfield, a resident of Slidell, Louisiana for over 30 years, went home to be with the Lord, on August 21, 2022 at the age of 98.
She was a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, born on August 4, 1924.
Mary Ann leaves behind, to cherish her memory, three children, Brent J. Hatfield Sr. (Denise) of Slidell, LA, Brenda Hatfield Scofield (George) of Covington, LA, and George P. Hatfield (Clara), of Slidell, LA; nine grandchildren, Michelle Hatfield Hollifield of Slidell, LA, Brent J. Hatfield Jr. of NC, Sherri Scofield May of Kings Park, NY, Kristy Scofield Rivet Babin of Fort Walton Beach, FL, Amy Scofield Ramundo Jr. of Sag Harbor, NY, Mark Hatfield of Slidell, LA, Maggie Hatfield of Slidell, LA, Skye Lajunie of Thibodaux, LA, and Jennifer Huff of Slidell, LA; 16 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Virginia Maillet, who was like a sister, constant companion, and travel buddy to Mary Ann; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her husband of over 55 cherished years, George Hatfield; her parents, Lillia Naquin Klotz and Frank Klotz; four brothers, Frank Klotz, Morris Klotz, Gerard Klotz, and Merlin “Joe” Klotz; and son-in-law, George Scofield.
Mary Ann was formerly employed with Geo. Hatfield Construction, Charity Hospital, and Charity School of Nursing. She spent many years doing what she loved best, taking care of her family. Mary Ann kept a welcoming, meticulous home that holds many family memories that includes sipping her fabulous sweet tea, dancing in the living room to Johnny Mathis, and playing with her poodles over the years, along with her hydrangeas. She was a faithful Christian that enjoyed her time at Mass, which was obvious to all because she sang loud and proud. Mary Ann was known to be a social butterfly and remained active in her retirement, playing cards and bingo with her friends. She was a member of the St. Luke’s Senior Club, the Happy Hour Club, and AARP. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Friday, September 2, 2022 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Audubon Funeral Home in Slidell. A Funeral Mass will begin in the chapel at 12:30 p.m. Mary Ann will laid to rest in Lake Lawn Cemetery in New Orleans at 2:30 p.m. Memories and condolences may be expressed at www.Audubon Funeral Home.com

Patricia “Pat” Meka Schwingshakl, age 86, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2022.
Born in Milwaukee, WI, she was a homemaker who was also a parishioner of St. Luke Catholic Church in Slidell.

Eugene Larry “Perch” Hall, age 68, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Monday, August 15, 2022.
Born in Mobile, AL, he attended Shaw High School and served in the U.S. Army as a military policeman.
He worked in the contracting business in several southern states and was a big Alabama fan who always enjoyed hunting and fishing, which is how he got his nickname.

Ellen Ann McClendon Thomas, age 76, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Monday, August 15, 2022.
A native of Douglasville, GA, she graduated from Phillips High School in Birmingham and attended Alabama College.
She worked as an account rep and was employed with Slidell Memorial Hospital, while also a member of the Baptist faith who loved the beach and collecting seashells.

David Wayne Lynch, age 64, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2022.
A lifelong resident of Slidell, he was a graduate of Abramson High School and Louisiana Tech. He excelled in his career as an audio and video technician and was director of Audio and Visual Services with Royal Productions.
He was a huge Saints and LSU fan and enjoyed shooting his guns, kayaking and fishing. He also had a collection of swords and had a hobby of wood carving, especially creating gnome faces.

Barbara Christine “Crissy” Flick Peyton, age 74, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2022.
A native of Metairie, LA, she was a lifelong homemaker.

Wilhelm “Willy” Coln, age 82, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Friday, August 19, 2022.
Born in Cologne, Germany, he attended hotel restaurant school and served as a chef apprentice in the Rasthaus Hotel in Cologne before moving to Zurich, Switzerland, where he became the Commis de Cuisine at the St. Godart Hotel.
He also was chef with Holland America cruises, as well at restaurants in England before coming to the U.S. in 1964 and working at many restaurants, including the Royal Sonesta.
He opened his own restaurant, Willy Coln’s Chalet in 1976, and was later featured on the PBS series “Great Chefs of New Orleans.”

Melburn Charles Johnston, Sr., age 59, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2022.
A longtime resident of Chalmette, he was employed with Boh Bros Construction Company as a foreman for over 30 years.
He loved the outdoors and was an avid Bob Marley fan.

Richard Michael Puglise, Jr., age 74, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2022.
A native of New Orleans, he served in the Army Reserves and had a career as a commercial refrigeration sales rep.

Eddie Carl Edwards, age 74, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2022.
A native of Sumner, TN, he was a commercial painter who enjoyed traveling, entertaining and following NASCAR as an avid fan. He also collected muscle cars and was a rosarian and top hybridizer of tea roses as a member of the New Orleans Rose Society.

Edwin Lyle Kopfler, Jr., DDS, age 77, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2022.
A graduate of Loyola School of Dentistry in 1969, he served in the U.S. Army as a dentist and opened his Slidell office in 1971.
He received his Fellowship award from the Academy of General Dentistry in 1978 and later received the prestigious Mastership Award.
Only 1,000 dentists have received their Mastership and only 2 percent of dentists in the country achieved that honor.
He was a member and past president of the Slidell Rotary Noon Club, a parishioner and usher at St. Genevieve’s Catholic Church and enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting.

Dorothy Louise Beckerman Olson, age 82, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2022.
Born in Chicago, IL, she worked as a critical care nurse at Slidell Memorial Hospital until her retirement in 1995.

Robert T. “Bob” Bordelon, age 73, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2022.
A native of New Orleans, he was raised in DeMotte, IN, and moved to Slidell in the early 1980s.
He was a guitarist and played in several bands in the area. He loved music, horses, race cars and fishing.
Mary Gean Anderson, age 87, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Monday, July 25, 2022.
A native of New Orleans, she lived in California and Texas before returning to Slidell for her final years.
She was active in Houston with social groups while owning a ceramic arts shop.

Norma Kessner Gabriel, age 83, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Friday, August 19, 2022.
Born in New Orleans, she moved to Slidell in 1967 and remained here for many years before her passing.

Gaile Cabiran Burst, age 79, of the Rigolets, passed away on Monday, August 8, 2022.
A native of New Orleans, she was a parishioner of St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church, and retired from Standard Mortgage Co.
She was a member of the Fort Pike Volunteer Fire Department and previously worked as a draftsman and enjoyed engraving.
She loved to photograph sunsets at the lake and frogs, while enjoying reading and books on tape, as well as her talent for cooking.

Bonnie Hall Clement, age 74, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2022.
Born in Mississippi, she retired from the St. Tammany school system where she worked as a bus driver.
She spent many years volunteering in the Slidell community as a member of the Slidell Women’s Civic Club.
