STEPHEN PETER MORANT
Stephen Peter Morant, of Slidell, Louisiana passed away on October 17, 2022 at the age of 72. He was born in Kensington, England on May 15, 1950. He was preceded in death by his father, Peter Frank Reginald Morant; mother, Lily Elsie Salassi; and brother Kelly Morant.
Stephen is survived by his wife of 46 years, Tamara Morant, and their children: Angela Morant-Roques and husband, Joshua; Jason Alan Morant and wife, Elise; and Joshua Peter Morant and wife, Jennifer. He is also survived by his brothers, Richard Morant and Dennis Morant; sisters, Gail Roberts and Stephanie Rammrath; and five grandchildren.
Because of his kindness and generous heart, he will be missed by a host of friends and extended adopted family members including Ruth, Valerie, and Leslie Palacios and her two children.
Born in England, Stephen immigrated to the United States in 1963 at the age of 13 with his mother and brother. He enlisted in the Army in 1969 and bravely served for two years stationed in Korea. A talented musician, recording engineer, and audio/visual technician, he worked in and around the New Orleans’ music and theater scene for close to five decades. Stephen loved movies, sailing, and building things with his hands.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on Saturday, October 29, 2022, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. with a funeral service beginning at 3 p.m. at Audubon Funeral Home in Slidell. Raymond “Ray” C. Blady, Sr., age 87, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2022.
Born in New Orleans, he and his wife moved to Slidell in 1974.
Richard Thomas Nance, age 85, of Lacombe, LA, passed away on Tuesday, October 18, 2022.
A native of Hattiesburg, MS, he was a resident of Lacombe for 40 years and previously lived in New Orleans where he graduated from Warren Easton and played three sports in high school.
After attending LSU, he joined the Air National Guard, then after being discharged with eight years of service, worked for New Orleans Public Service. He later owned an electrical business that he ran for 40 years.
He was a member of Thompson Road Baptist Church and a big Saints and LSU fan.
Charles Bolian, age 84, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2022.
A native of Slidell, he was a longtime resident of Rollinsford, NH, who was an Archeological Professor at the University of New Hampshire. He received his doctorate at the University of Illinois in Anthropology.
He was a huge supporter of the local theatre group, Garrison Players, and an active member at St. John’s Methodist Church in Dover, NH.
Lauze “Woody” Joseph Bergeron, Jr., age 74, of Ponchatoula, LA, passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2022.
A native of New Orleans, he was a longtime resident of Slidell who was a Vietnam veteran, serving with the U.S. Army. As a member of the 82nd Airborne, he was a recipient of a Purple Heart.
He retired from AT&T after 40 years of service and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
James E. Mire, age 85, of Mandeville, LA, passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2022.
A native of Slidell, he attended First Baptist Church of Covington and enjoyed the outdoors, his pet Yorkie Bella, and pet birds.
He attended the U.S. Naval Academy where he played football and then obtained degrees from both USL and LSU, then served with the FBI for 29 years, both as a special agent and field training agent, firearms instructor and SWAT team leader. He later was an investigator for another 20 years, then a firearms instructor for 10 years with the St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office.

Phyllis J. Facio, age 81, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Monday, October 17, 2022.
A native of New Orleans, she taught at Resurrection School for eight years and was a real estate agent in St. Tammany Parish.
She served as president of the parish real estate board and was a member of the Real Estate Honor Society, a licensed instructor, and also was the queen of the Krewe of Troy.
Paul Edward Key, age 75, of Pearl River, LA, passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2022.
A native of Dumas, AR, he served in the U.S. Air Force and earned numerous recognitions, including the National Defense Service Medal, Outstanding Unit Award, and Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon.
He had a career as an aircraft inspector and enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time.
