Next stop will be Louisiana State Silver Gloves Competition
SLIDELL – Two young Slidell boxers from the Anointed Hands Boxing Gym in Slidell returned from the prestigious Champion vs. Champion event in Florida with first place finishes.
The four-day event hosted by Sugar Bert Boxing Promotions, brought together over 300 boxers from around the country including the Bahamas, Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
Held at the Wyndham Orlando Resort and Conference Center with two championship boxing rings set up for the competition, the event was packed with boxers, coaches, officials, and spectators cheering on their favorite fighters.
Slidell boxers Jeremy Santos and Floyd Berger of Anointed Hands Boxing Gym in Slidell, led by Head Coach Dupre Strickland and Assistant Coach Shawn Berger, were top competitors for the local team with championship finishes.
Santos, 15, holds three championship belts and three first-place trophies already and after he competed in the 125 lb. weight division, was victorious in that division.
Berger is eight years old and competed in the 85 lb. weight division and currently holds five championship belts, with the latest one from this tournament.
The Anointed Hands Boxing team will be headed to the Louisiana State Silver Gloves on December 17 in Columbia, LA. Boxers who win will advance to the Regional Silver Gloves in Searcy, Arkansas, and then on to National Silver Gloves in Independence, Missouri.
