JOAN THOMAN VINCENT

Joan Thoman Vincent, a resident of Slidell, Louisiana for 44 years, went into eternal life on December 8, 2022, at the age of 79. She was a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, born on December 20, 1942 to her loving parents, the late Dorothy Thoman and Anthony Joseph Thoman. Joan is the beloved mother of Dawn Ledgerwood (Scott) of Sugar Land, Texas and Dennis M. Vincent of League City, Texas; proud grandmother of Olivia Ledgerwood and Allison Ledgerwood; cherished sister of Anthony Joseph Thoman Jr., Donald Charles Thoman, Judith Ann Rizzuto, and Diane Thoman Helwig. She also leaves behind a host of extended family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Roy L. Vincent.
Joan attended St. Dominic School, graduated from St. James Major High School with the Class of 1961, and attended the University of New Orleans. She had a career with Mary Kay Cosmetics, where she built lasting friendships with her customers for over 40 years. Joan was an active parishioner of St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church and served on St. Luke’s Altar Society and St. Luke’s Parish Council. In her younger years, she was a diligent taxi service for her children’s numerous activities. Joan was a beloved “Mimi” to her grandchildren, Allison and Olivia. In addition to spoiling her grandchildren, Joan had a special gift for striking up a conversation with everyone she met. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, December 17, 2022 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church in Slidell. A Funeral Mass will begin at 11 a.m. Joan will be laid to rest in Forest Lawn Cemetery following services. In lieu of flowers, Masses said in Joan’s name are preferred. TERRY KENNEDY

We are saddened to announce that on December 8, 2022, after a three-year battle with ALS, Terry Kennedy, of Slidell, LA. passed away peacefully at home following an afternoon surrounded by his family.
Terry was born on January 3, 1946 in Northern Kentucky, to Bernard Kennedy and Dorothy Kennedy. He was raised in Ft. Thomas Kentucky with his 4 siblings. His family were active members of St. Catherine of Sienna Parish, where his Catholic faith grew in grade school and later at Newport Catholic High School, where he made many lifelong friends. Upon graduation in 1963, he entered Seminary at St. Pius X where he spent 2 years of college. He went on to attend Villa Madonna College in Covington, Kentucky.
He met Sally Reibling, of Covington, KY in 1965 and they were married in 1967. They proceeded to have five children and spent 16 years raising them in Ft. Thomas. He was a middle school teacher at St. Joseph School in Cold Springs, Kentucky. He then worked for many years at U.S. Shoe Corporation in Cincinnati, Ohio. It was with U.S. Shoe that he moved the family to Slidell, Louisiana in 1984. He received many awards during his time with the company including “Man of The Year” in 1991 for the Easy Spirit Division. In 1995, he left the shoe business and became an Agent for G.E. Long Term Care, then New York Life. In 2005 he became the General Agent of the New Orleans area for Knights of Columbus Insurance, where he remained until his retirement in 2012.
He cultivated many lifelong friendships in Slidell through his involvement with Pope John Paul II High School sports, where his kids attended high school, and at St. Luke the Evangelist Church, where he was an active parishioner and involved with many Catholic Organizations including the Knights of Columbus. He cherished his relationship with these friends and these institutions to the end. He never met a stranger and always had a smile for everyone he met. He was a man of great faith, and his spiritual postings on social media touched many. He was an avid golfer, reader, and a fan of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He also followed LSU and Ole Miss, where his children attended college, as long as they weren’t playing his Irish. He was always the life of the party and loved a good time.
Terry is survived by his wife Sally (Sarah) of 55 years, his five children Terrence Brady Kennedy, Sean Patrick Kennedy (Julie), Timothy Francis Kennedy, Kevin Michael Kennedy (Ashley), Maureen Elizabeth Kennedy; and eight grandchildren Sean Jr., Christopher, Shane, Emma, Hannah, Patrick, Sarah, and Mara Kate.
He is also survived by four siblings, Judy Sceifres (Tom), Jane Greenwell (Mike), Tim Kennedy (Sharon), Jo Ann Corcoran (Rob), as well as a host of cousins, nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. Brothers in Law and Sisters in Law, the late Tim Reibling (Patti), Dennis Reibling, Mark Reibling (Barb); and Kathleen Swan (Jim).

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Service at St. Luke The Evangelist Catholic Church, 910 Cross Gates Blvd., Slidell, LA. 70461 on Monday, December 19, 2022 at 11 a.m.
Visitation at the church on Monday after 10 a.m. until funeral time.

Trung Thoi Nguyen, age 76, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Friday, December 2, 2022.
A native of Vietnam, he had been a resident of the United States since 1978.

Gary “Arky” Martin, age 71, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2022.
A native of El Dorado, AR, he previously resided in St. Bernard Parish and retired from Valero Meraux and Murphy Oil after 40 years.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and loved playing the GNOAL League for almost 25 years.

Marilyn Laborde Willis, age 84, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2022.
Born in New Roads, LA, she was a devoted parishioner at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church who was a homemaker most of her life.
She enjoyed coaching softball, being a Girl Scout leader and volunteering as a room mom at school. She was also a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and loved to bowl, sew, crochet, cook, bake and watch football.

Robert “Bob” John Sanderson, age 86, of Pearl River, LA, passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2022.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, he graduated from Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute and worked as a civil engineer in New Orleans, working on projects such as the BNO building, JAX Brewery, Plaza d’Italia, Holocaust Memorial and Harrah’s Casino.
A U.S. Army veteran, he was stationed in Germany and served as a Combat Construction Specialist. He was also a parishioner at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
