LUCY T. SCHWARTZ

Lucy T. Schwartz, born Lucy Mae Thomas in May of 1925, is the daughter of the late Frank R. Thomas and the late Catherine Thriffiley Thomas. She is the sister of the late Frank R. Thomas, Jr. She departed this earthly life surrounded by her family, on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at the age of 97. She is preceded in death by her husband, Anton V. Schwartz, and her grandson, Marc Chabane.
After graduating from Holy Angels Academy in New Orleans, Louisiana, Lucy received a scholarship to St. Mary’s Dominican College of New Orleans. She began working for American Airlines at their flight reservation desk, eventually working at the airline reservation desk at the Roosevelt Hotel in New Orleans during World War II.
She is survived by her six children: Catherine Costello, Jane Chabane, Thomas Schwartz (Robin), Stephen Schwartz, Barbara Maher (Brian), and Michael Schwartz (Laura).
Lucy had 17 grandchildren: Lise Bremond (Darren), Eric Bremond (Andre), Paul Bremond (Megan), Emily Chabane, Rachael Walton (Henry), Ryan Schwartz, Erin Schwartz (Jared), Annie Schwartz, Stephen Schwartz, Megan Maher, Mary Maher, Thomas Maher, Molly Maher, Maureen Maher, Peter Schwartz and Jack Schwartz. She also had nine great-grandchildren: Mia Hall, Alex Bremond, Landon Bremond, Dillon Kling, Piper Bremond, Sunnie Bremond, Ava Walton, Evelyn Walton, and Vivienne Walton.
Lucy was a devout Catholic and dedicated wife and mother. She never failed to put her husband’s and children’s needs before her own. Lucy was gentle and soft-spoken. Her wisdom and generous spirit were appreciated by all who knew her. She was greatly loved and will be sorely missed.
Special thanks to all those at Summerfield who took such good care of Lucy.
Relatives and friends attended a visitation on Monday, January 9, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Slidell. A private interment was held for the family. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations to Catholic Charities of New Orleans.

JULES EUGENE WARSHAW

Jules Eugene Warshaw, 89, passed away of natural causes on January 4, 2023, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Jules was born on November 4, 1933, in Manhattan, New York. He graduated from Warren Easton High School in New Orleans and went on to attend Tulane University and graduate from UNO. Jules made his home in Slidell where he served his community through his accounting business and his involvement with Gideons International and his home church, Calvary Baptist.
Jules was predeceased by his parents, Phillip and Flora Warshaw and his sister, Joan Warshaw Rome. He is survived by his daughters, Debbie Kevlin (Mike) and Dena Frady (David); his grandchildren, Chris Kevlin (Ally), Erin Dominy (Aaron) and Robert Frady (Chloe); his great grandchildren Bryce and Kase Dominy; and his longtime companion, Kay McKean.
Funeral services will be held at Calvary Baptist Church in Slidell on Saturday, January 28 with visitation at 10 a.m. and service at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Gideon International.

Sandra Lucille Taylor Casey, age 86, of Slidell, LA, passed away on November 11, 2022, from complications of pneumonia.
A native of Houston, TX, she was valedictorian of her class of 1954 at Lake Charles High, and earned an English degree from McNeese State University.
She worked 12 years for the Louisiana Teachers’ Retirement Board and Louisiana Office of Tourism, and retired in Slidell.
Always an avid reader, she collected a large library of books and also loved genealogy and ordering Christmas gifts.

Frankie Marie Mart Arseneaux, age 79, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2022.
A native of New Orleans, she moved to Slidell in 1967 and was a homemaker who loved fried shrimp po-boys, fancy cowgirl boots and the color red.

Richard Palmer Dickey, age 87, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2023.
Born in a family farmhouse in Henry County, OH, he attended Ohio State University and earned a medical degree to specialize in obstetrics and gynecology. He also earned a Ph.D. for his study of the neurohormones of reproduction.
He was the director of Infertility and Reproductive Endocrinology at Ohio State and then came to LSU, later founding the Fertility Institute of New Orleans, achieving the first successful in-vitro fertilization in the Gulf South States in 1983.
In 2014 he received the Distinguished Arnold P. Gold Foundation Humanism in Medicine Award. He had over 120 articles published in medical journals, not to mention serving as a captain in the U.S. Army.

Sharon Coulbourn Williams, age 73, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Monday, January 2, 2023.
A native of Salisbury, MD, she earned a degree in Business Administration from Atlantic Business School and had a 35-year career with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission as a federal investigator before retiring in 2006.

Robert “Bob” Arlen Stroud, age 85, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2022.
A native of Lake Charles, LA, he earned an Education degree from LSU and served in the U.S. Army.
He was well-known in Slidell as the longtime leader with the Ozone Camellia Club who had numerous associations with other groups, including the International Camellia Society, the American Camellia society, the Gulf Coast Camellia Club, the New Orleans Camellia Club and the Knights Templar. Stroud was recognized for creating many new, unique camellia flowers during his years and became a mentor to many others in the club throughout the over 50-year history of the organization in Slidell.
He was employed with Medical Equipment Company, Clinical Services, Inc., and the New England Pre-School Academy. He was also an active parishioner at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church.

Rhonda Marie Vallaire Hutchison, age 59, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2022.
Born in New Orleans, she had a career as an office manager with Dr. Helen Stevenson, and was active in the Pearl River community with the high school PTA, and Athletic Boosters.
She was a parishioner at St. Luke’s Church and loved attending sporting events and taking surprise vacations.

James Thomas Fayard, age 78, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2023.
A native of New Orleans, he served in the U.S. National Guard and was a maintenance carpenter who was employed by Cypress-Fairbanks ISD.
He enjoyed playing challenging games of skill, such as Mahjong.
