MORRIS BELKNAP TICHENOR II

Morris Belknap Tichenor II of Slidell, LA passed away Saturday, October 14, 2023, at the age of 73.
A descendant of antiseptic and mouthwash namesake Dr. G. H. Tichenor, Morris was a New Year’s baby, born in New Orleans in 1950 to two schoolteachers, Allen Thurman and Ruth Marion Tichenor, and was named after his uncle.
After graduating from Prytania Private School and then trade school, he worked over four decades in the electronics and oil industries, as a ship’s radioman and then engineer, traveling and exploring the world.
Morris was a lifelong learner, history enthusiast, and storyteller to anyone who would listen. Fiercely independent and free-thinking, self-taught in numerous trades, he built and maintained the home he shared with his wife of 45-and-a-half years, to the day, Leanne Tichenor. He was a constant problem solver and tinkerer, and he always had a project he was working on in his shed.
Morris had a great enthusiasm for science and technology, for politics, and for diner food. Above all else, he loved his family, his pets, and his recliner. Morris is dearly missed but warmly remembered by his wife Leanne; their four children Morris Tichenor III (Heather), Stephanie Runge (Erik), Matthew Tichenor (Jennifer), and Katie Tichenor; and six grandchildren Sophie, Quinn, Lucy, Philip, Russell, and Elliot; as well as his twin sister Marion and brothers Allen and Bill.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial service at Bagnell & Son Funeral Home, 75212 Lee Rd., Covington, LA on Friday, October 27, 2023, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., followed by Mass and interment of ashes.
