Pope John Paul tennis defeats Northshore in crosstown match

SLIDELL — The Pope John Paul tennis teams took on the boys and girls teams from Northshore in a recent match.
On the boys side, the game was tied 2-2 with Pope taking line 1 singles from Tyler Morel and line 2 doubles of Spencer Bogran and Bryce Kendrick, and Northshore took the other two doubles.
PJP freshman Henry J. Calamari pulled out the victory for the win over Jack Wei in a supertiebreak (10-6) for the third set. Calamari pulled out ahead with a 6-3 first set and Wei bounced right back, but it was Calamari that clinched the win. Calamari secured the win for the team making the Jags improve to 6-2 overall.
On the girls side, Pope John Paul took all lines. Northshore only came with two girls in singles.

Singles 2: PJP’s Lizzy Favre defeated NHS’ Maria Harrison 6-3, 6-7, 7-5, 9-4.
Doubles 1: PJP’s Abby Jovanovic and Elisabeth Andries won by default.

Doubles 3: PJP’s Holly Estopinal and Mary Grace Kelley won by default.
