SLIDELL — After a scoreless first half, the Fighting Irish of St. Patrick’s (Mississippi) scored two, third quarter touchdowns that led to a win over Pope John Paul II, 21-6, on Friday night, September 5, in Slidell.
The Fighting Irish (1-2) scored three rushing touchdowns of 35, 60 and 40 yards, and finished with 248 overall yards on the ground.
The Jaguars (0-1) scored their only touchdown on a 67-yard run by Chanse Caire with 1:05 remaining in the contest.
Caire had 149 yards on 20 carries while sophomore David Doane, starting his first game at quarterback, was 3-of-7 for 27 yards.
Brady Crockett led the Jaguars with seven tackles, and Will Arata and Joshua Philips had six.
Pope John Paul II goes on the road Friday, September 12 to take on the Pearl River Rebels with both teams looking for their first win of the season.
