FBC competitive in opening games

SLIDELL — The Northlake Christian Lady Wolverines (1-2) notched their first victory of the regular season Monday, September 8, afterbeating First Baptist Christian 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-11) on the Lady Eagles’ home court in Slidell.
The First Baptist Christian Lady Eagles (1-2) opened the season with a big win over Springfield and then fell to Houma Christian.
Against Springfield, First Baptist cruised to an impressive 25-23, 25-13, 19-25, 25-22 decision. In that contest, Lady Eagle Jackie Fredericks helped lead the way with five service aces, one block and 26 kills.
First Baptist had another solid effort against Houma Christian, but ended up dropping a 16-25, 19-25, 25-22, 25-27 contest.
Coming up big for the Lady Wolverines against First Baptist was Lexie White with five aces, 17 digs and 11 kills. Also having a great game was Alaina Hardy with five aces, 12 digs and 13 kills.
“If we keep our mental and emotional game strong we will do great things this season,” said Northlake Christian coach Shannon Puder.
