PJP reaches quarterfinals

SLIDELL — It was business as usual for the #1 seed Pope John Paul II Lady Jaguars as they posted a decisive 3-0 win (25-9, 25-9, 25-21) over the #16 seed Lady Panthers of Catholic-New Iberia in the second round of the state volleyball playoffs.
The win takes them to the quarterfinal round at the Pontchartrain Center where they will play at 10:50 AM on Thursday, November 13 on Court #3.
The Jaguars will be taking on #8 seed Episcopal.
It was Allison Hartmann that rose to the occasion in the first set serving 15 consecutive points en route to a 25-9 win.
In the second set Marlena Cutura had a nice run at the service line hitting nine straight winners to duplicate the first set win with a 25-9 victory.
The final set saw the Panthers come alive to give the Jaguars cause for alarm but could only manage to pull to within 24-21 before bowing out.
Coming up big for the Lady Jaguars were Marlena Cutura, Camille Dedeaux and Allison Hartmann with nine kills apiece. Bailee Maillet had 15 digs and Marlena Cutura and Tyler Sanderson had four. Christina Cutura and Hartmann each had four aces while Milayne Danna helped lead the offensive attack with 17 assists.
