MANDEVILLE – Northshore’s Lady Panthers picked up another District 6-5A win defeating the Fontainebleau Lady Bulldogs 5-3 last Wednesday at the ‘Dawg Pound.
Northshore clung to a 3-2 margin at the end of the third inning and wouldn’t score again until the sixth inning when they put two more runs on the board.
The Panthers held Fontainebleau to one in the seventh to hold on to the win.
Northshore pitcher Missy Clark went seven innings, allowing seven hits, walking one and striking out seven to collect the win.
Kat Cognevich had the hot bat for Northshore going 2-for-2 with a double and triple.
NS vs. Hammond
Northshore (10-2, 4-1) continued their winning ways last week with an 8-4 win over the Hammond Lady Tors in District 6-5A action.
The Lady Panthers got it going in the first inning when Cameron Cottingham singled and moved up on an Emily Dubisson bunt sacrifice. Mallory Subervielle reached on an error and Kat Cognevich doubled to drive in two for a 2-0 lead.
In the third, Panther starter Missy Clark opened with a single followed by another single by Cognevich. Jordan Vivien reached on a fielder’s choice and Jessica Dicharia walked. Zara Johnson bunts and reaches second driving in two runs for a 4-0 lead.
Hammond (6-7, 1-3) got back in it in the fourth inning tying it at 4-4 with three of those runs were a result of walks.
In their half of the fourth Northshore got those four runs back aided by a Dubisson double, a walk to Subervielle and an RBI single by Vivien to cap the 8-4 win.
