COVINGTON – The St. Tammany Master Gardeners’ 2016 Northshore Garden and Plant sale will take place from Friday, March 18 to Saturday, March 19 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
This special event will take place at the St. Tammany Parish Fairgrounds in Covington. The fee is $5 for adults, and those who are 18 and under are free. There will be over 60 plant and garden art booths, educational programs, LSU “plant doctor” table, cooking demos, children’s activities, and food concessions.
The garden and plant sale has become one of the Northshore’s best events attracting over 2,000 homeowners and gardeners from across St. Tammany and neighboring parishes. The Northshore Garden and Plant Sale is the group’s main fundraiser, and the proceeds help support the Bobby Fletcher Sr. College Scholarship. The scholarship is given in memory of Dr. Bobby Fletcher Sr., a longtime supporter of youth participation in agricultural and horticultural activities in St. Tammany Parish.
This scholarship sponsored by the St. Tammany Master Gardener Association is given to encourage academic study in the fields of agriculture and horticulture to a St. Tammany high school graduate who attends a Louisiana college. Last May the Association gave three scholarship one of which went to Charles Adeola from Northshore High School, Slidell.
