Mildred Anderson Tymkiw, of Slidell, passed away on March 6, 2016.
She was 89 years old.
She was the beloved wife of the late Harry J. Tymkiw for 53 years; father of Dennis Tymkiw (Cissy), Denise deAlminana, and Douglas Tymkiw (Michele); loving Granny to Matthew and Andrew deAlminana, and Alexis, Nicholas and Michael Tymkiw; and mother-in-law of the late Wayne deAlminana.
She was a native of Huntsville, Ala., and the youngest child of the late Lula Jordan and Rufus Anderson. Until she met Harry, Millie worked at the Red Stone Arsenal in Huntsville, assembling artillery during WWII, and then in the blueprints library.
After moving to Slidell, she was a librarian at Boyet Jr. High. In retirement, Millie became a Louisiana Master Gardener, and enjoyed her grandchildren, gardening, crossword puzzles, lunching with friends, attending church at Church of Christ and quilting.
She sewed beautifully and meticulously, and was a longtime member of the Camellia Quilters.
Visitation will be held Saturday, March 12 at Honaker Funeral Home from 9 to 10:30 a.m.

Betty Sue Hill, of Slidell, passed away on Saturday March 5, 2016.
She was 82 years old.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years Willie Hill; children John Roland Hill, Sandra Lenora Messina, Shelia Elizabeth Patterson, and Donald J. Hill; brother, Joey Lindley; 10 grandchildren, Robert, Lisa, BJ, John, Cody, Pam, Lindsey, Heather, Brad, and Dallas; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Hill is preceded in death by her parents, Aaron and Nora Lindley.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 19 at 4 p.m. at Abundant Life Church, 40295 Crowe’s Landing Rd., Pearl River, La. 70452.
D.T. Williams Funeral Home, 67525 Hwy. 41 Pearl River, LA 70452 in charge of arrangements.

Marjorie Jane Cobb Mathe, of Slidell, passed away on Monday, Feb. 22, 2016.
She was 94 years old.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Chester Joseph Mathe Sr.; sons, Chester Joseph Mathe Jr. (Faye), and Wayne Joseph Mathe; grandchildren, Chester III (Ari), Brian (Gigi), Allison, Steven, and Michelle; and great-grandchildren, Abigail and James.
Funeral services were held on February 26 at D.T. Williams Funeral Home, 67525 Hwy. 41, Pearl River.
Interment followed at Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Slidell.

Josephine Bivalacqua Avocato passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2016.
She was 90 years old.
She was the wife of the late Rosario John Avocato; daughter of the late Salvador and Jenny Michel Bivalacqua; mother of Matteo, Antonina Nolan, Salvador and Russell Avocato; stepmother of Joann Avocato Bowers; and sister of Mary Diecidue, Rita Lee, the late Ignatius, Rosario, Frank, Salvador, Mike, Eddie Bivalacqua and Grace B. Capagnano.
She was the grandmother of Michelle Landry, Salvador, Mario, Gregory, Russell, Anthony, Nicklas, Vincent and the late Matteo R. Avocato; and great-grandmother of Matteo R. Avocato II, Cullen, Mitchell, Molly Landry, Collin, Hailee, Chloe, Tyler, Alyssa, Holly, Caden, Trevor, Cyrus and Troy Avocato.
A native of New Orleans, she lived in Metairie and retired to Slidell.
She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, was a Special Minister of the Eucharist from 1992-1995 and cooked for and conducted several Saint Joseph Altars.
She volunteered and served in the American Red Cross during Hurricane Hugo (1989), Hurricane Andrew (1992), Missouri and Kansas Flood (1993) and the California Earthquake (1994).
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 400 Westchester Blvd., Slidell, on Friday, March 11 at 12 noon.
Visitation on Friday after 10 a.m. until funeral time.
Donations to the American Red Cross, preferred, in lieu of flowers.
