Barbara L. Aubrey, a longtime resident of Slidell, passed away on Friday, October 21, 2016, in Corsicana, Texas.
She was 85 years old.
She was the wife of the late John Graham Aubrey; mother of Nancy Aubrey Walker (Joe), and the late John Graham Aubrey Jr.; daughter of the late Edwin and Lucille Long; and sister of the late Geraldine K. Long.
She is also survived by one granddaughter: Rev Katherine E. Walker (Patrick Williams).
She was a native of New Orleans and a resident of Slidell since 1958. She was a graduate of Jefferson High School, and Soule’ Business School, and was employed at Tulane University.
After moving to Slidell, Aubrey worked as a legal secretary for the Fritchie Familly where she remained for 38 years, was former secretary of Slidell Junior High PTA, former secretary of Slidell High School Band Boosters, and former secretary of Ozone Camellia Club.
After retirement, Aubrey enjoyed her years at First United Methodist Church of Slidell where she served as a member of the Lamplighters Circle and XYZ Craft group.
In later years, Aubrey became a resident at Camellia Gardens Senior Living in Slidell and attended Aldersgate United Methodist Church until 2012. Mrs. Walker moved with her family to Corsicana Texas and resided at Brookdale Senior Living until her passing.
Funeral services were held at Hoanker Funeral Home in Slidell on Oct. 26.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Brookdale Assisted Living/Corsicana, or Providence Hospice at www.chot.org.

Manuel Antonio Carames (Papo) passed away Thursday, October 20, 2016, at Forest Manor in Covington.
He was 88 years old.
He was born in Santiago, Cuba on June 13, 1928, as the son of Jose and Gloria Carames, and has been a resident of Metairie for the last 50 years.
He retired from the Elliot group and was instrumental in all Carames businesses. As competitive as business was he always said the sun shines for everyone. His kindness to all people endured to the end.
To know Papo was to love Papo. He worked tirelessly to provide a great life for his family.
One of his joys in life was his gardens and landscaping. We always had fresh garden fruits and herbs on the table.
He is survived by the love of his life, Ines Carames; sons, Manny and Ernie Carames; grandchildren, Zachary, Emmie and Brooke Carames; and great-granddaughter, Lakynn Landry.
Family and friends that Papo touched are invited to attend the memorial service at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd. West, (in Forest Lawn Cemetery), Slidell, on Saturday, November 5 at 11 a.m.
The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until service time.

Theresa Ducote Henssler passed away in Slidell on Tuesday, October 18, 2016.
She was 87 years old.
She was a native of Mansura, La. and resident of New Orleans, La.
She was the daughter of the late Felix Ducote and Lena Roy Ducote; wife of the late Arthur Henssler; mother of Sheila, Taunia (Gregg), Hans (Michele), Tahiess (Michael), and Todd, step-mom, Arthur; grandmother, Ashley, Tess (John), Jenna (Luke), Danielle (Christopher), Shelby, Christian, Hans, Ava, Dane, and Michael; step-grandmother, Amanda, Jamie, and Jessica; great-grandmother, Hazel; and sister of the late Cecille Chatalain, Agatha Ledet, Margaret Roth, Dominick Ducote and David Ducote.
Memorial services were held on Oct. 22 at Honaker Funeral Home in?Slidell.
Donations to the Alzheimers Association, www.alz.org, are preferred, in lieu of flowers.

Harold A. Buttone, of Slidell, passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2016.
He was 68 years old.
He was the husband of the late Patricia E. Buttone; father of Ricky English, Jr. and wife, Brittany; son of Leona Mauterer Buttone and the late Harold F. Buttone; and brother of Keith Patrick Buttone and Kenneth John Buttone.
He is also survived by his grandson, Coley English; nephews, Keith Buttone, Jr., Christopher Buttone, Anthony and Nicholas Buttone, and Vincent Buttone; and niece, Ava Buttone.
Harold was a native of New Orleans and served 20 years with the New Orleans Police Department then retired as a Boilermaker.
Funeral services were held on Oct. 21 at Honaker Funeral Home in Slidell.

Anita Mae Miller, a resident of Slidell since 1974, passed away on Friday, October 14, 2016, in Slidell.
She was 84 years old.
Anita was preceded in death by her husband, Harold E. Miller; her parents, Barney and Ira Phillips; son, Steven Miller; daughter, Mary Lou Ponthieux; and a stepson, Delmon Miller.
She is survived by seven children: Susan Van, Debbie Troyani, Harold “Sonny” Miller Jr., Donna Thompson, Joy Helmke, Melinda Miller, Jimmy Miller; brother, Jimmy Joe Phillips; 23 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
Anita was baptized as a Jehovah’s Witness on January 4, 2014, and was a faithfull servant of Jehovah to the end.
A memorial service was held on October 19, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1475 Fremeaux Ave in Slidell.

Merle Elizabeth Smith was born on April 5, 1937 in Michigan to the late Glen and Inga Hungerford and passed away on October 13, 2016.
She professed faith in Christ and personally witnessed many miracles as a direct result of prayer. She loved Jesus, she loved her family, and she loved to fish.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, five children, Roxanne Freeman and husband Bo, Jerry Smith and wife Charlotte, Patricia Davis and husband Wayne, Belinda Duncan and husband David, Robert Smith and wife Christina; 15 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Inga Hungerford; late husband/father of her children Hardy Smith; and daughter, Inga Spencer.
While the family acknowledges the heartache accompanied by such loss, they also rejoice knowing they will see her again one day. Their faith remains strong as they continue to testify of the power of prayer witnessed by such a strong and resilient woman.
Visitation was held at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd West, Slidell, on Thursday, October 20.

Keith David Budde Sr., beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2016.
He was 61 years old.
Keith was the youngest of three brothers, growing up in Arabi and a lifelong resident of Louisiana.
After attending Chalmette High School, Keith went on to a long career with AT&T, where he dedicated himself to helping others. An avid sports fan, he supported his local teams consisting of the New Orleans Saints, LSU Tigers and New Orleans Pelicans. He was also a former member of the Krewe of Endymion.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 38 years, Juanita Bordelon Budde; mother, Audrey Budde; children, Keith Jr. (Cara), Jason (Rachelle), and Melissa Lard; brothers, Don (Nancy) and Steve; grandchildren, Kilian, Cody, Payton, Addisyn, Ian, Jude, Kinlee, and Kelsea; and host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
The family would like to express their special thanks to the many doctors and nurses at Ochsner Foundation Hospital who assisted during this most trying of times.
Funeral services were held on Oct. 18 at Honaker Funeral Home in Slidell.

Glenn Franklin Adams Sr., of Slidell, passed away on Monday, October 17, 2016.
He was 91 years old.
He was the husband of the late Helen McDonald Adams; father of Glenn F. Adams, Jr. (Linda), Charles P. Adams (Jennifer) and Michael H. Adams (Demaris); and brother of Charles Wayne Adams, Carolyn A. Lewis, Linda A. Tennyson, the late Roland E. Adams, Treas Donald Adams, Marie A. Stanley and Betty A. Vickers.
He is also survived by six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was a veteran of Army Transport Command during WWII and a retired Crescent City Port River Pilot.
Private memorial services were held.
Donations to Calvary Baptist Church, Slidell, preferred, in lieu of flowers.
