PERL RIVER — To say it was a romp would be an understatement as the Pearl river Lady Rebel demolished the visitors from Independence 3-0 (25-3, 25-9, 25-5) in a District 5-III contest in the Rebel gym.
Pearl River, now on an eight-game win streak, remain undefeated in district play with a 4-0 record and stand 13-2 overall for the season. Independence is still looking for its first win of the season with a 0-4 record.
The outcome was never in doubt as the Lady Rebels began the rout early in the first set.
Hannah Johnson got it going from the service line getting seven, straight points to put the Rebels up 9-1 en route to a blowout 25-3 first set win.
The Lady Rebels continued their dominance in the second set despite giving up nine points to Indy. Those nine points were primarily self-imposed errors by the Rebels.
Pearl River closed it out in the third giving up only five points in the sweep.
“Any game we win will help us down the stretch,” said Rebel head coach Courtney Labourdette.
Kasey Harris and Abby Mayfield each had four kills in the win. Madison Roya had eight assists with Olivia Cooperider collecting four aces and Brooke Heinz five aces.

Springfield
The Lady Rebels are on a roll and they looked strong in their 3-0 sweep of the Springfield Lady Bulldogs (26-24, 25-12, 19-25, 25-12).
Pearl River is undefeated in District 5-III with a 3-0 record and have an impressive 12-2 record overall.
Springfield falls to 11-5 overall and 2-1 in league play.
A number of players had big games for the Rebels.
Abby Mayfield, Alicia Bianchini and Kasey Harris each had five kills. Sierra St. Pierre and Brittnei Alvarez had 12 digs with Brooke Heinz right behind with 11 digs.
Hannah Johnson led the offensive attack with 15 assists.
