SLIDELL — Renee Warren won the crown of the ladies champion at the Greater Slidell Golf Championship last weekend.
Warren shot a 265 overall (gross) after the three-day competition, which took place at all three golf courses in Slidell — Pinewood, Royal, and Oak Harbor.
Warren took a slim lead early Friday at Pinewood after she shot an 88. Virginia Cole was in second after shooting a 90, and Robin O’Sullivan was in third place with a score of 109.
Then on Saturday at Royal, Warren did one better by shooting an 87 to increase her lead a little more. Cole shot a 94 at Royal while O’Sullivan hit a 101.
Warren maintained her lead going into the final round at Oak Harbor by shooting a 90. Cole finished up by shooting a 101, and O’Sullivan shot a 113 on Sunday.
Warren won by 20 strokes over Cole who had a final of 285, and O’Sullivan finished with a 323 score.
Last year it was Bridget Landry who won the title, but she was unable to play this year due to a scheduling conflict. Cole also competed last year and shot a 277 overall.
