SLIDELL — The Northshore baseball team got in a lot of practice this summer, and the Panthers used that to their advantage by winning the summer baseball league.
Northshore defeated Covington in the championship summer league baseball game, 8-3. The Panthers took a 6-0 lead after two innings, and ended up winning 8-3 over the Lions.
Hunter Campbell picked up the win for Northshore after four innings of work. He allowed three runs, gave up five walks, and struck out two.
Campbell was also 2-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs, and left fielder Joshua Jochum also drove in two runs.
NHS designated hitter J.P. Lagreco went 0-for-1 but drew three walks and scored each time. Daniel Baez was also 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI.
The Lions scored three runs in the third inning, and that would be all the offense the team would produce. Northshore scored two runs in the first inning, four in the second, and one each in the sixth and seventh.
