SLIDELL — Former Delgado Community College catcher and Northshore High School graduate Chris Eades signed a National Letter of Intent to continue his baseball career as a member of the Lions, Southeastern Louisiana baseball coach Matt Riser announced Thursday.
Eades hit .315 with a team-best eight home runs and 53 RBI as a sophomore to help lead Delgado to the 2014 Junior College World Series. He was second on the Dolphin squad with 29 walks and 15 HBPs, compiling a .455 on-base percentage.
“We are extremely excited about adding Chris to our stellar signing class,” Riser said. “He brings a physical presence behind the plate and some big-time power at the plate. He’s even more exceptional with his work ethic and leadership skills. That will allow him to be successful and help us continue to win championships.”
A native of Slidell, Eades was an All-Miss-Lou Conference selection in addition to earning All-District honors. The Pittsburgh Pirates selected him with their 35th-round pick in the 2014 MLB Draft.

In high school, Eades was a two-time All-District selection at Northshore High School and a member of its 2009 state championship squad. His older brother Ryan is a pitcher in the Minnesota Twins’ minor league system.

Eades joins 14 other incoming players in Riser’s first recruiting class as head coach. Southeastern finished the 2014 season with a 38-25 record, winning the Southland Conference Tournament to advance to NCAA Regional play for the first time in 20 years and knocking off Bryant University, 2-1, for the school’s first NCAA postseason victory since 1992.
